Our Staff
Pastor: Rev. Johnny Touchet
Johnny is our senior pastor at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Powdersville, South Carolina. He has been with MMBC since 2003. He has a MA in Biblical Preaching from MIDS out of Indiana, BA from NOBTS, and has served as the Southeastern Regional Mentor for IABC, and professor at Covington Theological Seminary. Johnny has been married to Kerry Lynn for 26 years with six wonderful children (Sara, Rachel, Gerry Ann, Savannah, Hannah, and JET).
Youth and Family Minister: Rev. Jeff Jowers
Jeff Jowers was born and raised in Columbia, SC. He received a B.S. in Financial Management from Clemson University in 2002. He then received a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Biblical Seminary in 2005. Jeff was ordained to the work of the gospel ministry in 2005 at SouthEast Community Church in Columbia. Jeff has served as the Minister of Youth and Families at Mount Moriah since January of 2006. He also serves on the Board of Directors for IgniteUS.
Jeff met his wife, Lisa, while in seminary. They were married in June of 2005. Lisa taught English as a second language for a few years and now stays at home with their daughter, Hadessah, and their son, Nathan.
Church Secretary: Melissa Hood
Melissa grew up in Cheddar, South Carolina not far from Powdersville. After graduating from Palmetto High School, she earned a BS degree in Elementary Education from Lander University. She earned her certification as a Ministry Assistant in March of 2005. She has been a member of Mount Moriah since 2001 and has served as the Ministry Assistant since 2005. She and her husband Tommy have been married for 18 years and have 2 children- Drew -15 and Anna- 13.
Worship Leader: Lloyd
Lloyd was born in Ravenna, OH but at the age of ten his family moved to Nettie, WV.
After graduation from high school, he was offered a scholarship to be part of the vocal group “Joyful Sound” from North Greenville College. It was there that he met his wife of 25 years. He and Christina have two sons, Kenny who is 23 and Chris who is 20.
After graduating from North Greenville, he joined the Greenville City Police Department for 5 years. He left the police department to be the Minister of Music/Youth Director for Clearview Baptist Church in Travelers Rest, SC. Since leaving Clearview he has served as worship leader in several area churches. He has been a member at Mount Moriah for ten years serving as worship leader for 8 of those years.
